TIE Fighter - Empire-focused anime-style short Star Wars film

Epic poster art for Paul Johnson's short animated film, TIE Fighter

What if there was an Empire-focussed short Star Wars animation, drawn with the crazy detail and shading of classic 80s anime that's all but vanished from Japan nowadays?
Well, I tried my best.

Wes Anderson presents The Star Wars (Force Awakens Trailer)

We haven't had a post in awhile and despite no posts around here on the subject if you follow us on Twitter it pops up from time to time, seem to like some Wes Anderson.  This Star Wars trailer mashup isn't amazing but the fact that someone made it is good enough.

It was SkyDome Big - Star Trek TNG Final Episode

Was reminded today that in 1994 on this date Star Trek The Next Generation aired its series finale, the final episode "All Good Things...".  All the usual things can be said, great series, legendary cast, probably height of franchise etc.... but one thing I've said before, and I'll say it again - It was SkyDome big.

City TV in Toronto held a special viewing event in the SkyDome stadium, according to Memory Alpha attracting 40000 ppl. Speaking of attracting, for you Canadians - Monika Deol!

True Detective watches the Star Wars Holiday Special

I'll admit, I haven't watched any of True Detective.... dunno if it's my thing, but heard all the rave reviews.  Might give it a shot later just to find more meme-able clips like this. Wow.

Also, does Woody Harrelson age into Ed O'Neill eventually as the story progresses?

And that legendary hypercheese Star Wars Holiday Special.... thought we had a copy of it around here somewhere but maybe not..who knows what tag it's buried under....Life Day? haha

It's a Jurassic Unix System!

Kind of funny, geek-funny anyways, spoof of famous "It's a Unix System, I know this!" scene from Jurassic Park.
What's crazier beyond that is there's a whole subreddit I just stumbled upon devoted to the funny, over-the-top misrepresentations of computers and hacking we see all the time in movies & television. Find it on /r/itsaunixsystem naturally.

Maybe you just want to use the whole JP system ala Nedry's desktop..... like this guy is trying to recreate

iPartment x Big Bang Theory - Chinese sitcom scene comparison

A recent article focused on the fact that The Big Bang Theory actually has a decent following in China.  Understandably, the younger, more modern and connected generation has more than a few geeks in its ranks and is drawn to the US sitcom.

More interesting is that Chinese tv producers have taken notice and like all things, have actually built multiple homegrown shows that appear to borrow (steal/plagiarize) plot lines and ideas from BBT.  Particularly is one popular show called iPartment. (爱情公寓)

While the show is a bit more general about some twenty-somethings living in Shanghai, some very familiar character-types and scenes appear in the show.  Sure enough, found this handy comparison video by some Chinese video site user that shows BBT clips and iPartment ones.  Wacky as always, see if you can follow along.

Of course, Big Bang is no stranger to imitation. There was that other story about the duplicate show out of Belarus, The Theorists, that even Chuck Lorre commented on in one of his regular end of episode vanity cards.  Of course, in that case, when the actors found out that they were cast in a rip of BBT, they wanted nothing to do with it. haha

Sheldon at Center of Big Bang Theory Universe

Another whiteboard session on BBT last night, Amy demonstrating thru diagram how everyone wouldn't know each other without Sheldon.  Some funny names on there, esp. 'Kooth'.  Maybe Jim Parsons can use this to get that bigger contract they've been pining for.

BBT whiteboard diagram of all the friends' connections through Sheldon

Captain Picard sings Let It Snow

'Tis the season for wacky stuff like this I guess.  The amount of work involved with a supercut mashup of this nature must be immense. But where there's a will, and an interweb......

I do not own Star Trek or Let It Snow.

The Internet Is Coming - Final IT Crowd Episode

Nice folks over at Channel4 have made it watchable on YouTube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRkA8Pm4upw

Sad to see it go, but it had a good run.  We had some good laughs about stuff from it and in comparison these days, the geek levels remained high compared to Big Bang Theory which has drifted into mainstream 'relationship drama' territory.  Won't make any comment about the final ep other than it's length is a bit unusual for the regularly 22 minute show or whatever... not sure they knew how to expand it into an hour.  Enjoy nonetheless!

Cheers & thanks for the IT support, Roy, Moss and Jen.

In a World...No, Somewhere in Space... - Star Wars 1976 Teaser Trailer

"Somewhere in Space, this may all be happening right now..."

This is the original teaser trailer for Star Wars released yesterday on the official Star Wars youtube channel.  It's rough but worth a watch to see the beginnings of what would come. (thank god what came later was so much better)

There. Are. Four. Takes. - Patrick Stewart Demonstrates

No words.

Actually, a lot of words. Patrick Stewart's girlfriend on the random filming? (vertical mistake too) feet? Stewart gets ladies by teaching 'masterclasses'? He really is at the top of his game/living life these days isn't he?

In A World... If that doesn't say Movie Trailer to you...

Andrew stumbled upon this trailer for some sort of indie type film about a girl trying to break into the movie trailer voiceover business.  Thought the title was pretty good. First thing you think of when you hear 'In A World...' right?

Lake Bell girl reminds of kid from Moonshine Kingdom...I mean, Moonrise Kingdom- Kara Hayward but grown up.

Anyways, speaking of movie trailer voices..and movie trailers about movie trailer voices.  The classic Jerry Seinfeld 'Comedian' movie one is worth a rewatch:

And if you're really feeling that vibe, here's the king Don LaFontaine (RIP) talking about the biz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QPMvj_xejg

Star Trek Into Darkness drawing the big ad budget? Nerd Super Bowl? But it's Audi v Mercedes?
