It was SkyDome Big - Star Trek TNG Final Episode

Was reminded today that in 1994 on this date Star Trek The Next Generation aired its series finale, the final episode "All Good Things...".  All the usual things can be said, great series, legendary cast, probably height of franchise etc.... but one thing I've said before, and I'll say it again - It was SkyDome big.

City TV in Toronto held a special viewing event in the SkyDome stadium, according to Memory Alpha attracting 40000 ppl. Speaking of attracting, for you Canadians - Monika Deol!

Captain Picard sings Let It Snow

'Tis the season for wacky stuff like this I guess.  The amount of work involved with a supercut mashup of this nature must be immense. But where there's a will, and an interweb......

I do not own Star Trek or Let It Snow.

SkyDome Big - Star Trek TNG Cast Reports to the Bridge in Toronto

It wasn't that long ago we marveled at the TNG cast reunion, the stuff of dreams, taking place at the somewhat odd and unexpected event of the Calgary Comic Expo in May.  The cast seems to all get along really well, and obviously the demand for such a thing isn't going down anytime soon, so a stopover in Canada's largest city Toronto was bound to happen.  It was minus a few crew members of seasons past, @wilw and Tasha Yar.  But that's ok, we get enough Wheaaatttonnn on BBT and Tasha Yar was killed off so early by that black tar pool.

I won't get into photo lifting and video posting in this post -- the newer/rogue 'fanexpo'-type event was somewhat under-reported  but still some dedicated fans have been posting photos and scouring for great moments after the fact. Two I happened upon stand out and should be all you need.

One is this German (?) guy who's archived tons of great photos. Bilder und Videos von der Toronto ComiCon

And then there this humorous rundown on HuffPoCA of the 47 Best Moments Of An Evening With The Cast

Trek Wars - Casino Royale

All good ensemble casts and universes have a poker game.

Not exactly new, think it was a shirt for sale years ago -- but relevant on all the frenzy surrounding J.J. Abrams taking the directing helm for the new Disney Star Wars (Episode...7?) as well as already being at the reigns of the rebooted Star Trek franchise.

Star Trek Into Darkness x Toy Story mashup

Man, the stuff people will do with a simple, effective trailer with a good monologue.  Love the syncing.

LeVar Burton Geordi TNG Screen Test Photo

Oh the gems that will be unleashed on our modern internet with the release of the Star Trek The Next Generation Blu-rays.

LeVar Burton: Geordi La Forge screen test photo, with interesting hair
Seems like all these things are going to need some TNG Season 8 humour to go along with them. How about this one:

UPDATE: 04/19/2018

Wow, ok, so we apologize for spreading some misinformation all those years ago - this was one of the other actors in the running for the Geordi job, Clarence Gilyard Jr. Confirmed by Mr. Burton himself weeks after we posted.

All Senior Staff Report to the Bridge - TNG Crew Reunion pic

Star Trek The Next Generation (TNG) cast reunion Calgary with Team Webcomics fans in back
The Next Gen reunion event was pretty neat but getting your photo taken with the cast (for x amount of $) takes the cake.  Shouts out to Team Webcomics who got one of the better photos with everyone's favorite bridge crew. They claim it was a massive photobombing by Jean-Luc and his merry band.  (Thanks for the tip Kevin Fox)

Update May 4th, 2012:
Another example of one of these fan photos with the full cast. This one maybe didn't turn out as good as above - -but I'm sure it made this guy's day...err, life. TNG4Ever indeed.
Captain Sweatpants' best day ever.
Oh, and the cost for various cast member photos at Calgary Expo..standard sort of 'Con' things I guess.

Calgary Comic Expo Star Trek: TNG Wil Wheaton Speaks

So, if we were to modify the main deflector dish to send out an inverse tachyon pulse we could create an "anti-time" anomaly, and then hop in to ride it all the way back to last weekend to catch the cast of Next Gen in Calgary.

Next, watch Wil Wheaton's emotional answer to "What's it like being allowed back up with the real actors, Wesley?"

And shouldn't they all look exactly like they did in the finale?

Make it Serta, Number One. Victoria Mattress Sale Goes Boldly

Floating around, took a while to get off my wwl list. If only we knew someone in BC, maybe someone with a new Bell-branded Samsung Galaxy Nexus, a Galaxy far, far away from the original. You know, the Next Generation of Android-Data-capable phones who could take our mattress dreams and make them so.

Hello, Computer: Scotty uses Apple iPhone Siri Voice Assistant

I know some of you out there had to be thinking of this when Apple announced voice assistant/recognition technology "Siri" in the new iPhone 4S today.
Hello, computer: Scotty talking into mouse in 1986 Star Trek IV.
Poor old James Doohan.  Of course, pretty sure the computer in the scene there was a Mac as well (containing engineering drawings for transparent aluminum no doubt).  If you wanna talk spacetime continuum, you can mull over how Apple is releasing this 24 years almost right on from when they 'envisioned' it as a Knowledge Navigator in 1987. 1987? What, like, after they saw Scotty talk into the mouse and marveled at the good idea?  I'll just leave it at that.

Faster than the Speed of Light? Start Filling In Those Warp Charts

The Okuda Scale of warp factors (see Warp drive)
News out of CERN in Switzerland was reported earlier that a test in which some neutrinos were fired from deep in the ground up towards a lab on the surface - showed up earlier than when they left. A 'crazy result' according to them.

More geeky sci-fi-ence after the jump.

Brent Spiner does a Patrick Stewart Impression

From the title alone this was a must-watch.  We shouldn't be that impressed however as it should be prettty easy for an android like Data to pull something up out of the ol' positronic brain to imitate mon capitane, Jean-Luc Picard.

CBS Star Trek TNG Fan Sides Ad Posters Live Boldy

"Live Boldly. Love Your Fan Side." proclaims this ad poster series in the UK for CBS Action channel.  The specialty channel has be preparing a national campaign to promote Star Trek:The Next Generation (TNG) as one of its shows.  Attracting the nostalgic fans who may have dressed up as or envisioned themselves as Captain Picard, Geordi La Forge or Lt. Commander Data, the pics are kinda neat.
